A member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid has this week secured for himself a place at the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
The player in question? Brahim Díaz.
Versatile frontman Brahim has of course endured something of a hit-and-miss campaign at club level to date.
Amid fierce competition for places in Xabi Alonso’s squad, the former AC Milan man has been largely forced to make do with a backup role.
His latest appearance off the bench came on Wednesday night, as Real Madrid slipped to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Manchester City.
On the international stage, though, Brahim remains one of his country’s leading players.
In turn, it should come as no surprise to hear of the 26-year-old being afforded a place in Morocco’s official squad for the upcoming AFCON.
Brahim joins the likes of Achraf Hakimi, Nayef Aguerd and Sofyan Amrabat in the Atlas Lions’ ranks for the tournament, the group stages of which will be kickstarted in 10 days’ time.
