Harry Kane has decided to stay at Bayern Munich next season in a crushing blow to both Barcelona and Tottenham's chances of signing him. Kane, 32, has a release clause worth £57million which he must activate by the end of January in order to secure of a summer transfer.

His prolific form has firmed up interest from Barcelona, who are exploring the striker market ahead of Robert Lewandowski's contract expiring in June. Meanwhile, Tottenham boss Thomas Frank recently made it clear that Kane would be welcomed back with open arms should he decide to return to North London.

But for now, the ex-Spurs talisman is loving life at Bayern and German publication Bild report that he won't be triggering his clause. Kane has previously hinted that he could extend his stay in Bavaria, where his wife, Katie, and four children are happy living.

"In terms of staying there longer, I could definitely see that," the 32-year-old revealed in October. "I have not had those conversations with Bayern yet but if they were to arise I would be willing to talk and have an honest conversation."

Since then, Bayern's director of sport, Max Eberl, has confirmed that contract talks will take place in the new year. "We will sit down with Harry at the beginning of 2026 and talk about his future," Eberl said.

"We all sense how comfortable he feels at FC Bayern. In my view, Harry rightfully has the chance to play a major role in the Ballon d'Or voting.

"It's incredible what he has achieved, and he would deserve to be among the top three for the Ballon d'Or. He would have my number one vote. But to get back to the question: I'm not too worried today that Harry Kane might leave us."

However, Eberl wouldn't be torn on whether Kane will be offered a one or two-year extension. "I don't want to say in advance; we'll first have the conversation with Harry," the Bayern chief went on say.

"We'll look each other in the eye and ask, 'How do you see it, how do you feel?' I don't know if he wants to go back to the Premier League or perhaps do something completely different.

"But what I am sure of is that he and his whole family feel incredibly comfortable in Munich. Munich is a very safe and liveable place, which Harry and his family greatly appreciate."
