Mikel Arteta addressed the performance of Noni Madueke against Club Brugge.
The winger was a contentious signing for some supporters at a fee of £52 million from **Chelsea**in the summer, but he almost immediately proved the doubters wrong. He has been a strong backup for Bukayo Saka on the right flank, filling in at the start of September to great effect against Nottingham Forest, Athletic Club, and Man City before suffering an injury against the Citizens.
Upon his return, he soon notched his first goal for the Gunners in a 3-1 win over Bayern Munich, and he has backed that up with a brace against **Club Brugge**that included a wonder goal from range.
“Unbelievable goal. When you talk about individual quality, individual action, a magic moment, that's it. A player that is able to pick the ball that far, dribble past people and finish with the quality and the power that he's done. The same as Gabriel Martinelli as well, I think at this level you want to win games, you need individual players to step up and to do something different. I'm very happy because now we have some players back in the front line and you can tell how much better we have done.
“[Bukayo and Noni] have different qualities as well and it's great because we're going to need them. We are playing every three days and players with that freshness and with that bite in the teeth as well, understanding that they have to perform at that level and this is the standard that we set, it's something really good.
“It's about consistency, so any player that plays in the middle, we have the same example. We need to have those standards and play consistently. It's not a game, it's two games, three games. Can you do it ten games in a row, every three days and that's the level that we have to hit.”
