West Ham Utd academy product Freddie Potts has said he is determined to keep his place after breaking into the first team.

Potts has impressed many pundits with his recent performances, and many have tipped him to follow in Declan Rice’s footsteps.

On 22 August 2025, Potts made his Premier league debut coming on as a half-time substitute for in a 5–1 home defeat at the London Stadium to Chelsea. He made his first start for the club on 2 November 2025, in a 3–1 home win against Newcastle United where he was praised for his performance and named as man of the match

He said: “I’m loving it. I keep saying it to people, but it really has been my dream since I was five. I joined the Club when I was five and for me the goal was always to be in the Premier League with this team and following the footsteps of Mark Noble and Declan Rice and now I'm doing that.”

“It's just the dream and I want it to continue and I'm going to do everything I can to try and keep holding my shirt and keep playing. So, I'm looking forward to what's going to happen.”

He remembers the countless childhood trips to the old Chadwell Heath training ground, long before its renovation, with fondness.

He said: “Every time I drive past it now, I get flashbacks of all the good times," he said. "It’s such a massive part of my journey. I’ll never forget that place.”

Potts is the son of former West Ham United player and current coach, Steve Potts and the brother of former Luton Town player Dan Potts.

His father Steve was West Ham United Club Captain for a three years between 1993 and 1996, and was voted Hammer of The Year in 1993 and 1995, and runner up in both 1992 and 1994. During his career he amassed a total of 505 appearances for the club.
