Gary Lineker admits Moises Caicedo is actually better than N’Golo Kante in one area

There are a lot of similarities between Moises Caicedo and former Chelsea player N’Golo Kante.

Caicedo and Kante are both exceptional midfielders who excel at winning the ball back.

Looking at some of the former’s performances this season, his tackling has been up there with Kante’s. It is one area where they are perhaps at the same level.

Has a Chelsea player ever scored a better goal than this?

However, Gary Lineker thinks Caicedo is outright better than Kante at one thing, though he still prefers the Frenchman.

Gary Lineker thinks Moises Caicedo’s long shots are better than Chelsea legend N’Golo Kante’s

Caicedo has scored a couple of screamers this season, including a long-range effort against Liverpool back in October.

According to Lineker, finding the back of the net from distance is one area where Caicedo is the superior footballer compared to Kante.

Speaking about the two midfield generals on The Obi One Podcast, the former England striker said: “Caicedo’s got a bit more in terms of being able to bang one in from as we’ve seen. But I’ll always take Kante.

“Yeah. I mean he was unbelievable. I mean, Caicedo is starting to… he’s gradually improved and gradually improved and he could go further and challenge. But at the minute, you know, N’Golo’s won it all.”

Caicedo is still serving a three-game suspension after being sent off in Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Arsenal at the end of last month.

Chelsea missed Caicedo in their defeat to Leeds United, Enzo Maresca said after the game. Since his ban, the Blues have failed to win any of their games, losing against Atalanta in the Champions League on Tuesday.

How many goals did N’Golo Kante score at Chelsea?

Kante was not renowned for scoring too many long-range goals or just goals in general. In 269 appearances, the France international only managed to net 13 times.

Caicedo is only six goals away from matching that tally despite playing 152 games fewer. He should easily match Kante and then surpass him.

Chelsea bought Kante and Caicedo to prevent goals, though, and that is what they have done.

The comparisons will continue, with both players being so similar. But until Caicedo can get his hands on the biggest trophies like Kante did during his time at Stamford Bridge — the Champions League and Premier League — he cannot be considered a better player.
