Liverpool backed to replace Mohamed Salah with Premier League star; "sky is the limit" for him

Liverpool have been backed to re-sign former attacking midfielder Harry Wilson in place of Mohamed Salah, with the Welshman impressing at Fulham currently.

No decision has been made yet over Salah’s future at Anfield, but there is every chance that he has played his final game for the club, following last weekend’s rant.

If the 33-year-old does depart in the January transfer window, focus must immediately turn to bringing in a tailor-made replacement, with the Egyptian leaving a huge void, despite his struggles this season.

Speaking to ComeOn [via Liverpool.com], former Everton striker Tomasz Radzinski talked up the idea of Wilson re-signing for Liverpool from Fulham next month:

“Harry Wilson to Liverpool, why not? If he can perform this well for Fulham. Before Mohamed Salah became one of the greatest players in the Premier League, he had to move to a few other clubs as well. At Chelsea, he was not really rated, and he had to go to Italy only to come back to the Premier League to be exceptionally fantastic. Anything can happen. The sky is the limit.”

Is Harry Wilson good enough to return to Liverpool?

In truth, Wilson isn’t at the level required to come in and potentially succeed Salah, even though Fulham manager Marco Silva hailed his influence earlier this year, saying:

“He’s an important player and a very good player for us. Of course the feeling for him against Brentford is fantastic and he’s probably thinking right now, ‘why don’t I play against Brentford every week?”

Wilson is a gifted footballer, as shown by his magnificent goal against Crystal Palace last weekend, but the step up from Fulham to Liverpool is great, in terms of being scrutinised in every minute of every game you play.

For all his technical class, the Wales international doesn’t possess the pace to be a weapon on the right-hand side of the Reds’ attack, much like Harvey Elliott, so they need to be looking at speedier options instead, such as Michael Olise or Malick Fofana.

Wilson also turns 29 years of age in March, so he isn’t getting any younger, and there will be younger and more suited options out there for Liverpool, should Salah depart.
