Arsenal are keeping a close eye on Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Diant Ramaj. His performances have prompted the Gunners to ‘take a closer look’ at the 24-year-old.
That’s according to Sport.de. They report that Ramaj has been ‘spotted several times’ by Arsenal scouts and is now being watched more closely as a result.
Ramaj is currently on loan at Heidenheim, where he is fighting against relegation from the Bundesliga. He joined them in the summer and immediately placed club legend Kevin Müller on the bench.
He’s justified that decision since, establishing himself as a guaranteed starter even when Heidenheim have struggled.
Considered a sweeper-keeper with strong playmaking abilities, his talents haven’t gone unnoticed by Arsenal. They recent sent scouts to Germany to observe the 24-year-old more closely. The belief is that Ramaj could fit in perfectly as a number two for David Raya. That role is currently filled by Kepa Arrizabalaga, who joined from Chelsea in the summer.
For now, it appears that Arsenal are just watching him. Ramaj, for his part, is set to return to Dortmund when his loan spell ends in the summer. His future there is unclear, though.
Should Gregor Kobel remain at Dortmund, the starting goalkeeper spot won’t be available. If that’s the case, a move to Arsenal ‘could quickly become more concrete’. It seems they’ll be watching him either way, and closely at that.
