The real season Warriors won't trade Draymond Green for Giannis

The Warriors won't trade Draymond Green, even for Giannis Antetokounmpo, because any deal would require Green, coach Steve Kerr, and Stephen Curry to all agree—and Draymond himself would have to want to leave.

Trade rumors involving Giannis Antetokounmpo have heated up, reaching all the way to the Bay Area. According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, there's one player the Golden State Warriors might be willing to trade in order to acquire Giannis — Draymond Green.

"The only player I think in the league that Golden State would be willing to move Draymond Green for is Giannis Antetokounmpo," Fischer said. "That's the only player. Between him and Jonathan Kuminga and Brandin Podziemski, all of a sudden, Golden State probably does have an intriguing package if you're Milwaukee.

"But I don't think that they are going to be pushing Draymond's salary onto the table, or Jimmy Butler's salary, for anyone short of him."

However, another insider, Brett Siegel from ClutchPoints, dismissed the rumors.

"I don't know how many times we have to say it, but the Warriors WILL NOT be trading Draymond Green," he wrote on X.

"As we've reported, it would take Green, [Steve] Kerr, and [Steph] Curry all signing off on such a move, and Green himself would need to be the one to say he wanted to be traded."

Green, 35, has been with the Warriors since 2012, playing 901 games and averaging 8.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game.

His impact goes far beyond statistics, though; he's widely regarded as the glue of the team and was a key contributor to Golden State's title runs in 2015, 2017, 2018, and 2022.
