Boban Marjanovic has a new team linked to the Doncic family

Boban Marjanovic has signed with Slovenia's KK Ilirija in a move strongly influenced by his close connection to the Doncic family, including former Mavs teammate Luka and Ilirija sports director Sasa Doncic.

Nine-year NBA veteran center Boban Marjanovic has officially signed with KK Ilirija, as confirmed on the ABA League website.

The 37-year-old began last season with Fenerbahce in the EuroLeague before moving to the Zhejiang Lions in the Chinese CBA at the start of 2025.

Before returning to Europe, Marjanovic spent nine seasons in the NBA, suiting up for San Antonio, Detroit, the LA Clippers, Philadelphia, Dallas, and Houston. He averaged 5.5 points and 3.6 rebounds across 331 NBA games.

KK Ilirija is based in Ljubljana, Slovenia, and Marjanovic will now play for a club close to the Doncic family. Much of the work in securing the deal was done by Ilirija's sports director, Sasa Doncic, Luka Doncic's father, who is a close friend of Marjanovic.

Boban and Luka previously played together in Dallas from 2019 to 2022.
