Report: Everton eyeing move to sign 'explosive' Champions League forward, he wants January exit

Everton are eyeing a move to sign wantaway Chelsea star Tyrique George in the January transfer window to bolster their attack, according to TEAMtalk.

The Toffees have had a strong season under David Moyes in their new Hill Dickinson Stadium with their new look attack, but are keen to add more reinforcements for the second half of the campaign as they push to climb even higher up the table.

Goals have been a bit of a problem for the side, with the Blues scoring just 18 goals in their 15 games so far this season, and now George has emerged as a target who could head to Merseyside in the new year.

George, who has been described as 'explosive', was on the verge of a summer move to Fulham before it collapsed on deadline day, as the Cottagers instead opted to sign Kevin and Samuel Chukwueze.

Enzo Maresca has barely called upon the Cobham graduate this season, and as a result the 19-year-old is keen to leave Stamford Bridge in January in order to play more regularly in the Premier League.

Leeds United have been linked with a move for the forward, but Everton are also said to be in the mix for his signature and have been monitoring his situation closely ahead of the window opening next month. It's understood that he is not a priority, with Moyes happy with his forward options, Jack Grealish, Iliman Ndiaye, Thierno Barry, and Tyler Dibling, but it is something they remain interested in.

George's preferred position is to play on the left, but he has shown an ability to play as a central striker too, while he is also capable of playing as a number ten or even on the right-wing. Chelsea are open to allowing him to leave, but would prefer that he joined sister club Strasbourg so that they retain some control over his long-term future.

Everton Must Prioritise Other Positions

While adding exciting forwards is always something that fans will be happy about in transfer windows, it's clear that Everton should have greater priorities in 2026.

The current attack has plenty of quality, depth and ability, and while George would add to that, there are some gaping holes in the squad currently that need addressing before Moyes tries to raise the floor of other areas in the side.

A new right-back is undoubtedly a necessity with Seamus Coleman and Nathan Patterson's long-term futures being major doubts, while a new centre-back and central midfielder would also be welcome additions before a new forward.
