Insider: Pacers to possibly move emerging star in Zubac, Gafford trade

In a potential deal around Ivica Zubac or Daniel Gafford, the Indiana Pacers would potentially be willing to part ways with Ben Mathurin.

It has been revealed recently that the Indiana Pacers, who are in search of the newest center of their future after Myles Turner's free agency departure, have expressed significant interest in both Ivica Zubac and Daniel Gafford.

As such, Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints reported that the Pacers would possibly be willing to move on from Ben Mathurin in order to land a big man deal.

Mathurin has been one of the Pacers' lone bright spots for this awful season. The former No. 6 overall pick is averaging career highs in points (21.5), rebounds (5.6), assists (2.3) and minutes (32.8).

He is about to become a restricted free agent in the 2026 offseason after not signing a rookie-scale extension.

Considering Mathurin's contract situation and increasing value, it would be intriguing to see how the Pacers could flip him for a center upgrade.

The Pacers are determined to find their newest enforcer in the middle, as next season would be important with Tyrese Haliburton set to make his return from Achilles recovery.
