Former NBA champion names ideal NBA destination for Anthony Davis

The Dallas Mavericks started the 2025-26 NBA season looking like the second-worst team in the Western Conference. They have since improved to a 9-16 record, good enough for the final play-in spot. Despite this, the path forward seems to be a rebuild, and a former NBA champion knows the ideal Anthony Davis trade.

Davis has played just 10 games this season. He’s averaging under 20 points per game for the first time since his rookie year. With Nico Harrison being fired, AD’s days in Dallas seem numbered, and his name has come up in trade rumors. Jeff Teague recently explained where the big man would fit in best.

“I like him (AD) in Toronto, though,” Teague said on the Club 520 podcast. “You know why? Cuz Anthony Davis needs to be somewhere like when he was with the Pelicans, where there ain’t no pressure.

“No disrespect to Toronto, but nobody cares about the Raptors. With him and (Brandon Ingram), they’d have a nice squad. They can make some noise, and AD can just be under the radar and hoop again.”

Moving on from Davis would provide Dallas the best opportunity to recoup some assets that will let them build around Cooper Flagg. The Raptors might be a good fit for AD as well. The team could really make some noise in the Eastern Conference with him. Teague’s take is borderline disrespectful, but that doesn’t make it bad.
