Dylan Harper opens up on what makes playing for San Antonio Spurs great

The San Antonio Spurs are in a great situation. Having drafted Victor Wembanyama in 2023, the franchise has been focused on putting the right team around the Frenchman. This includes drafting Dylan Harper with the No. 2 overall pick in 2025. And Harper thinks life with the Spurs is great.

The 19-year-old is the son of former 5-time NBA champion Ron Harper. He grew up watching his father be a part of some incredible organizations. And it seems he’s quite pleased with how things are in San Antonio. He opened up on what makes playing there such a good experience.

“Just to be in this type of environment with this team is great,” Harper told the press. “It’s very fun, playing with guys that you know you’re going to play for each other, no matter what. There is no ego. I wouldn’t want to get drafted anywhere else.”

This comes after the Spurs managed to oust the Los Angeles Lakers from the NBA Cup quite comfortably. The fact that they did it without Wemby made the win that much more impressive. Harper was impactful off the bench, contributing 13 points, three rebounds, and three assists.

The Spurs are one of the most successful NBA organizations of the 21st century. Their rebuild is on track to set them up for further contention in the next decade or so. Harper is surrounded by young talent close to his timeline, and they are sure to be competitive for years to come. No wonder he’s so happy.
