Arsenal plan to launch ambitious swoop to sign £131m duo to revamp key position - report

Arsenal are reportedly planning to make a double swoop to sign Real Madrid forward Rodrygo Goes and AC Milan star Rafael Leao, as per Caught Offside.

The Gunners decided to reinforce the frontline by purchasing Noni Madueke, Eberechi Eze, and Viktor Gyokeres last summer. However, the Swede has had a tepid start, netting only six goals in 18 appearances across all competitions.

On the other hand, Madueke and Eze have displayed bright performances this season. However, Caught Offside claim that Arsenal aren’t concerned about Gyokeres’ form, so they don’t want to sign any new striker next year.

Instead, they are planning to buy two new wingers as Leandro Trossard is set to turn 32 next year, while Gabriel Martinelli has displayed inconsistent performances in recent years.

Arsenal have identified Rodrygo and Leao as serious targets and could make a concrete approach to secure the duo’s service in January or next summer.

Rodrygo has struggled to find regular game time at Real Madrid thus far this season, but he was given the opportunity to start against Manchester City in the Champions League in midweek due to Kylian Mbappe’s injury absence. The Brazilian was Los Blancos’ brightest player on the pitch in their 2-1 defeat, scoring the opener.

Rodrygo & Leao to Arsenal

On the other hand, Leao has been an undisputed starter for Milan, making seven goal contributions in 12 appearances across all competitions this season. Moreover, he has been helping his side mount a title charge in Serie A, sitting at the top of the table.

The 26-year-old is valued at around £61m by Transfermarkt and has a contract until 2028 with Milan. So, the Rossoneri aren’t in any rush to cash-in on him next year.

Rodrygo, meanwhile, also has a contract until 2028 at Real Madrid and is valued at around £70m by Transfermarkt. Meaning, combined, the duo is valued at around £131m.

Rodrygo and Leao are one of the best forwards in the world and would be great acquisitions for Arsenal should they purchase them. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a move to lure the duo to the Emirates Stadium in January or next summer.
