Evan Ferguson sent a clear message to Everton with a statement performance for Roma against Celtic in the Europa League.
Everton were linked with Ferguson during the summer, but The Friedkin Group snapped him up for Roma instead on loan from Brighton.
The Republic of Ireland international has largely struggled since joining the Italian giants, and there were talks of him cutting his loan short and returning to the Seagulls.
Bryan King told Goodison News in November that Ferguson would be an ideal signing for Everton, and the 21-year-old arguably proved that on Thursday night.

Heading into Roma’s visit to Celtic in the Europa League, Ferguson scored just once across all competitions in 14 matches.

But in a statement performance against the Scottish giants, the Republic of Ireland international demonstrated the qualities that saw Brighton once value him at £100million.
Ferguson converted from close range for his first, and then his second was an excellent first touch and clinical finish past Kasper Schmeichel, the sort that Everton have missed this season.

Thierno Barry scored his first Premier League goal during the Toffees’ 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest, but their big-money signing needs support, and a loan for Ferguson could be perfect.
That being said, after finally witnessing his goalscoring talents in full flow, surely TFG and Roma are considering a U-turn and keeping the Irishman.
Ferguson is the complete striker
When Ferguson burst onto the scene at Brighton in 2022, aged just 18, the youngster was instantly compared to Harry Kane.
That was mainly because of his incredible holdup play, physicality, and excellent finishing in the box, the type he demonstrated against Celtic.
Ferguson is also relatively quick off the mark for his size and difficult to push off the ball, which is why the Seagulls once placed a nine-figure valuation on his head.
Everton stalwart Seamus Coleman was once excited about Ferguson’s ability, hailing his maturity and goalscoring.
Of course, injuries and inconsistent form have arguably made people forget what an excellent striker he is, but he reminded them of his qualities with a brace in Europe.
Sadly, those strikes could have ended Everton’s chances of signing him on loan in January.
