Evan Ferguson addresses media speculation after reports he could join Everton in January

Everton are on the hunt for another striker in the January transfer market and Evan Ferguson is a name that has cropped up once again.

There are some players who clubs just cannot help but be linked with in just about every single transfer window.

For Everton, one of those players seems to be the Brighton & Hove Albion striker, Evan Ferguson.

Ironically, the Ireland international is currently playing out on loan with The Friedkin Group’s other club AS Roma in Italy.

With the January transfer window just a matter of weeks away, Everton News understands that Everton are keeping tabs on Ferguson.

On the back of the recent speculation, the Ireland striker has now broken his silence on where his future may lie.

What Evan Ferguson said about recent links to Everton

It has been looking more and more likely that Roma may return Ferguson to Brighton in January, with the young striker failing to really hit the heights in Rome.

On Thursday night, Ferguson was in Europa League action, where he was able to score a brace against Celtic at Parkhead.

Speaking to TNT Sports after the game, Ferguson shared his stance ahead of what could be another big transfer window for him.

“Yeah, listen, there’s a lot of talk and you can’t really help it. The media win either way. You do good, they get to say what they want, you do bad, and they still get the headlines, you know what I mean?” he said.

“So, I don’t really care. It’s they can say what they want to say, you know what I mean? But it’s just good to get back out there playing.”

Everton News reported last month that, in January, Everton will be looking to sign another striker following Thierno Barry’s slow start to the season.

The Frenchman may be off the mark having scored against Nottingham Forest, but more may still be needed to reinforce the quality of Moyes’ options.

It has certainly been a difficult past couple of years for Ferguson, who has found himself out on loan away from Brighton.

Roma have the option to buy Ferguson for £40m in the summer, but it looks as if he may not even see the season out in the Italian capital.

Thursday night may have provided him with a glimmer of hope, though.

Moyes was open to signing two strikers for Everton over the summer transfer window, but priorities saw only Barry arrive.

Eyes will now be on what happens in Rome with Ferguson over the next few weeks.
