This team won't chase Chris Paul again

The Charlotte Hornets, who showed interest in Chris Paul last offseason, are not expected to pursue him this time around when he becomes available on Dec. 15.

The Charlotte Hornets were reportedly among the teams interested in Chris Paul this past offseason. At the time, the future Hall of Fame point guard was clear that he didn't want to play farther from his Los Angeles-based family than Phoenix.

However, according to Marc Stein, the Hornets are not expected to pursue the 12-time NBA All-Star this time around.

"A source with knowledge of the Hornets' thinking said this week that they are not expected to pursue the 40-year-old, but Paul is said to be open-minded about destinations now to go somewhere he can assemble a final chapter with a far happier ending than his second stint as a Clipper featured," Stein reported.

Paul will become eligible to be traded on Monday, December 15, and is seen as a likely candidate to move soon after the Clippers essentially banished him from the team on December 3.

The LA Clippers are reportedly eager to facilitate a trade to help Paul find a new home.

According to ClutchPoints' Brett Siegel, both the Houston Rockets and Minnesota Timberwolves have shown interest in acquiring Paul.

Now in his 21st NBA season, Paul is averaging career lows of 2.6 points and 3.3 assists in 14.3 minutes per game. This season is his final one in the NBA.
