David James Explains How Mo Salah Can "Start Scoring Goals" Again Amid Exit Rumours

Former Liverpool goalkeeper David James has said that Liverpool need to revert to how they played last season to get the best out of Mo Salah.

The Reds have a huge dilemma at the moment, as Salah’s future at the club is very uncertain. It isn’t clear whether Salah will play for Liverpool again, as he could leave for AFCON, and potentially leave in January with reports suggesting interest from the Saudi Pro League.

This season, Salah has struggled to recreate the form of last season, as he has scored just five goals and provided three assists for the Reds in 18 matches in all competitions this season. Arne Slot has dropped him, and now many are questioning his future at the club.

David James explains how Salah can start scoring again

Former Liverpool goalkeeper David James has said that he thinks Liverpool need to try and revert to how they played last season. He said: “I think the issue for Liverpool, and Arne has highlighted this a number of times already this season, is that the game that they played last season is not the same game that they’re having to play this season.

“A lot more direct balls, even talking about long throws – it’s back to being a thing now. The way that Liverpool are having to play isn’t the same, so therefore what Mo was doing last season has to be different this season.

“Teams who are not having success, and there’s quite a few of them who are probably looking at it and thinking we’re not where we should be, might say we’re going to have to revert back to what we were doing last year to try and get ourselves back into a better position. And therefore, the likes of Mo Salah will go, okay, I’m back into my comfort zone, and then we’ll start seeing Mo scoring goals.”

Who could Liverpool replace Salah with?

The Reds have been linked to signing Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo, who has also been linked with Tottenham and Manchester City.

Semenyo has been impressive in the Premier League over the last year and a half, and reports revealed that he will have a £65m release clause before the 10th January in the transfer window.
