Arne Slot has said he will have a discussion with Mohamed Salah to discuss their high-profile fall-out at Liverpool. The Reds' manager provided the update in his press conference previewing their next home match against Brighton and Hove Albion.

Salah, 33, insinuated the clash against Fabian Hurzeler's side could be his final match in a Liverpool shirt. Considering he was omitted from the squad for Liverpool's 1-0 away victory over Inter Milan in the Champions League, there's no guarantee the Egyptian will be included.

Slot also admitted earlier this week he is not sure if Salah will feature for Liverpool again. In his most recent press conference, he explained the next steps with him and Salah while also providing other updates about the squad.

Mohamed Salah latest

Slot made it clear he and Salah will soon have a conversation to try to iron out their differences. He said: "I will have a conversation with Mo this morning and the outcome determines how. What I need is a conversation with him and the next time I speak about Mo should be with him and not in here.

"There's not much more I can say. I speak to him today and the outcome determines how things will look tomorrow. You can try in multiple ways but I just said the next time I speak about him should be with him. I think there's been a lot of conversations since the last week between his reps and ours."

When asked who made the decision to omit him from the squad to face Inter, he said: "I think we decided as a club and I was part of that not to take him to Inter. I am always in contact with them with line-up and squads, that is always left to me. I talk to Richard Hughes more than Michael Edwards, we speak about many things."

Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak plan

Slot made it clear Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak will need time to build up a relationship. The £204m duo were deployed together at the San Siro, but the latter struggled to get into the game again.

The Liverpool boss insisted fans will have to be patient. He said: "What we all saw, which is normal, the more they play, the more they will adapt and the better they will cooperate.

"The other two 9s on the pitch for Inter were more used to playing with each other. It's the second time they have played together.

"I think we will see more of this in the future. Alex got a knock in the first half, so let's see if he is able to start tomorrow."

When asked about the condition of Italian forward Federico Chiesa, Slot replied: "He will train today, I assume he is ready," before stating Wataru Endo (ankle) and Cody Gakpo (muscle) will be missing for "weeks."

Slot also said Isak suffered a knock in the first half at the San Siro, which may rule the Swedish forward out. However, he is relieved Alisson Becker is back in the squad, despite being impressed with Giorgi Mamardashvili.

The Dutchman added: "Every time a player is available, let alone someone as good as him, it is helpful but Giorgi did a great job. I don't think either has had a lot to do because we hardly concede a chance.

"We've hardly a conceded a chance in the last 4 games. Giorgi did a good job but it's nice to have Ali back."
