Welcome to a series focusing specifically on the talented schoolboys at Arsenal who are currently at Hale End – those in the U16s and below. The academy is based in E17, Walthamstow. The sixth article is on Mikael Bonaventure Yetna.
A player who has progressed through the ranks at Hale End since joining from Ryan FC, Yetna has enjoyed an excellent season so far.
Although he is technically an U15 player, Yetna has been heavily involved for Arsenal U16s recently, while he also featured for the U17s in the Geneva Cup in pre-season.
This week Yetna took another major step forwards in his development as he received his first callup to the U19 squad for the UEFA Youth League game away to Club Brugge.
Yetna entered the fray in the closing stages and showcased his excellent technical ability.
Although he is most comfortable in midfield, Yetna has impressed in other positions for the U16s, including at right-back and as a right winger.
Yetna is also strong physically for his age and relishes pushing forwards.
The prospect’s versatility and determination should prove very useful in the future and he will look to feature at U18 level soon.
