FC Barcelona continue to place significant emphasis on strengthening their youth ranks for the future. As part of this strategy, the club has been linked with several highly rated prospects from around the world.
A few days ago, it was reported that they were close to landing the Egyptian youngster Hamza Abdelkarim from Al-Ahly. Now, recent reports suggest that the Blaugranes are also monitoring one of the most promising talents in Poland.
According to Sportowe Fakty (via Mundo Deportivo), the Blaugrana have sent a scout to watch Oskar Pietuszewski, the 17-year-old winger of Jagiellonia Białystok who has been drawing attention with his performances this season.
The technical report from that scouting trip was positive, which has encouraged Barcelona to continue tracking the player closely.
Pietuszewski has registered 3 goals and 2 assists in 29 appearances across all competitions for Jagiellonia.
He has also made a strong impression with the Poland U-21 team, scoring 4 goals in 6 matches and playing an influential role despite his age.
Pietuszewski’s rapid development has made him one of the standout emerging talents in his country. However, any move in the short term appears unlikely.
The player’s agent, Mariusz Piekarski, has publicly stated that Pietuszewski will remain at Jagiellonia until the end of the season.
“Oskar Pietuszewski will definitely stay at Jagiellonia Białystok until the end of the season. No one is considering changing anything in January.”
Since Pietuszewski is staying at his current club, Barcelona will continue to monitor the winger in the months ahead.
Furthermore, FC Barcelona is not the only major club aware of his progress. Chelsea and Manchester City are also keeping track of Pietuszewski, who is under contract until 2027 and valued at €12 million by Transfermarkt.
Jagiellonia view him as a potential record sale for the Polish league, with the current benchmark being Ante Crnac’s €11 million transfer from Rakow to Norwich in the summer of 2024.
