Everton may pursue a move for 21-year-old Republic of Ireland international Evan Ferguson in the winter transfer window amid his struggles at Serie A club AS Roma.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Evan Ferguson is the subject of interest from Everton. The Toffees are keen on bolstering their offensive unit by signing a striker in the winter transfer window. So, the 21-year-old Brighton & Hove Albion prospect has emerged as a target for the Merseyside outfit.
AS Roma may terminate the Irishman’s loan deal midway through the 2025/26 season, as his spell with the Serie A club has not worked out as well as he would have liked. However, Everton will not be alone in the race to sign Ferguson, with Celtic and Leicester City also in the battle for his signature.
How has Evan Ferguson become a bit-part player?
Evan Ferguson has endured a topsy-turvy ride since breaking into the first-team squad at Brighton & Hove Albion a few years ago. The Bettystown native has been with the Premier League club since January 2021, and he made his senior bow shortly after. While the 21-year-old has shown flashes of brilliance, he fell in the pecking order in the first half of the 2024/25 season before Brighton loaned him to West Ham United and AS Roma in the two transfer windows this year.
However, the youngster has struggled during his spells with the East London outfit and the Serie A club, barely managing any game time. The Republic of Ireland international has managed only 620 minutes of game time across 15 appearances in all competitions thus far. So, it is hardly surprising that Ferguson faces an uncertain future heading into the winter transfer window. However, he has no shortage of suitors pursuing his signature, with Everton vying for his services.

Evan Ferguson has been on Everton’s radar for a long time. The continued interest makes sense, as Beto has been inconsistent since joining the Merseyside outfit. Additionally, Thierno Barry has yet to establish himself as an undisputed first-choice striker for Everton.
