Liverpool are putting together some plans for the January transfer window as they look to turn their season around

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has continued to tinker with his line-up and formation as he looks to find a solution to the club’s defensive woes.

Between those wins, they had drawn 1-1 with Sunderland and 3-3 with Leeds United - throwing away a 2-0 lead against the latter.

While Slot looks to make his defence more solid, one consistent criticism of the Reds has been their apparent lack of urgency to sign a new senior centre-back after Jarell Quansah’s departure.

The England international does not plan to sign a new deal at Selhurst Park and is available on a free transfer next summer. However, the Reds are set to face competition for him.

Bayern Munich plan move for Marc Guehi

According to Sky Sports Germany, Bayern Munich have planned to hold further talks with the player after already meeting with the star’s agent. They report that Liverpool, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are the clubs ‘seriously interested’ in Guehi.

From January 1, Guehi is free to speak with any clubs outside of England to agree a pre-contract for the summer. Bayern sporting director Max Eberl wants to hold discussions directly with Guehi as Bayern accelerate a potential free transfer.

If Liverpool want to speak with Guehi in January, they will need to agree that with Palace - who could demand more than £20m for the defender given the importance he has within the Eagles’ squad.

After Guehi’s move to Liverpool collapsed in the summer, he was praised by England boss Thomas Tuchel for how he handled the saga.

The ex-Chelsea boss said: "Of course we had a chat with him. He looks absolutely fine and impressive on the field. He has had a good couple of weeks behind him on the performance side.

“He’s the captain and the leader and played very, very impressive in the end of last season and in the start of this season, and continued exactly like this in camp.

“So (he) was very impressive. He handles [the transfer collapse] with respect and with grace and with a brilliant attitude.”
