“He is good” – Maresca update on injured attacker shows there is one positive to upper-body…

Enzo Maresca has just taken his press conference ahead of Chelsea’s game against Everton tomorrow, and the manager was asked about the status of Liam Delap.

The striker went off injured against Bournemouth last weekend with what looked like a dislocated shoulder, and while it’s likely to rule him out for a few weeks yet, it’s not as bad as initially feared.

It’s been tough for Delap since signing in the summer – this is his second injury, and the time in between them he struggled for form. But Maresca was quick to point out that there were no issues on the mental side for the striker, who he knows well from their shared time in the Man City academy.

“Liam in general is good. He knows he has been unlucky, but he is in general good,” Maresca said.

“He is in the building every day to recover. He is with his teammates for breakfast and lunch, but it’s just about the time to recover.”

That’s also the upside of his latest injury being an upper body issue. While it might take a while before the pain subsides enough that he can play, it at least means he can get back to the non-contact parts of training pretty much straight away, and he’s going to stay involved and stay with his teammates.

Axel Disasi remains a player Chelsea are looking to move on, and according to some rumours that have come out recently AC Milan are keen on him. We’re not so sure it will be that easy.

Enzo Maresca has been pretty relaxed in press conference despite our bad recent results – that’s clearly his attitude to the whole slump we’re in now, and it’s going to be interesting to see if it gets the desired response from the players.
