How the Liverpool squad really feel about Mo Salah after Saturday’s controversial outburst - journalist

Mohamed Salah could potentially make his return to the Liverpool squad for their Premier League meeting with Brighton.

The Egyptian lost his place against Inter Milan on the back of an outburst last Saturday.

Exactly what the future holds is anyone’s guess, but Arne Slot and Salah’s private conversation is expected to shed some light on the situation ahead of Brighton.

The Brighton fixture is the Reds’ final match before the 33-year-old leaves to compete at the AFCON early next week.

He could be away until after January 18 if Egypt reach the final, so it would make sense for any lingering tension to be quashed before then.

Liverpool players aren’t angry with Mohamed Salah

However, while Jamie Carragher is among several pundits to criticise Salah, it doesn’t appear as though his teammates are overly cross with the star forward.

Speaking on the Walk On podcast this week, journalist Simon Hughes has shared an insight into how the Liverpool players are feeling about recent events.

He said: “But it certainly doesn’t feel like the players feel that Salah, or certainly the players that have spoken, that Salah has particularly said anything that’s really —— them off.

“You know, even though I couldn’t understand it if it would, you know, like it goes back to the thing about, you know, I prove myself over and over again. I think a lot of fans, that’s where he’s lost quite a lot of, you know, when you speak to people around the football, the sense of entitlement has annoyed a lot of people.

“I don’t sense the players feel that way, but as I say, what they say publicly might be different in private and equally, you know, the conversations I’ve had around the players, I haven’t got that feeling, but it’s very hard to sort of penetrate this world.”

A couple of Liverpool stars were asked about Salah on the back of their win over Inter Milan earlier this week.

As expected, their answers were pretty calm and did not give too much away.

Virgil van Dijk commented on Salah and said: “It’s difficult, but it’s a collectively difficult situation that we’re all in. Obviously, between Mo and the club, things are going on. There are consequences, he’s not here today to help us try to get the three points. That’s the reality, but I don’t think anything changes in terms of our focus, our determination to get results for the football club.”

Andy Robertson shared that he wants to keep playing with the forward.

Dominik Szoboszlai also spoke post-Inter, as per Liverpool.com. He stated: “What is in the dressing room stays in the dressing room, it is not for the public,” Szoboszlai said.

“We have to manage it, we have to find solutions. I can always come up with the opportunity on Tuesday or on the weekend again, but there are also times where you have to look at yourself.
