Hurzeler faces wing decision as Mitoma returns from injury

[Albion](https://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/albion/?ref=au) are ready to bring back Kaoru Mitoma at Anfield.

But fans have been urged not to expect too much too soon as the Seagulls face Liverpool .

The Japan winger is available for the first time since the 3-1 win at Chelsea in late September, when he was struggling with an ankle issue.

Supporters will be delighted to see him back, not least the many Japanese fans who follow him and the Seagulls.

Mitoma was missed in the draw with West Ham but Albion have often coped well without him, notably in their most recent away game at Nottingham Forest.

Albion boss Fabian Hurzeler said: “We all know he's a key player and can be a match winner of us, but we already proved this season that we are also a great team without him and we are able to beat big teams without him.

“So now it's about him getting back to his best shape. It's about him fighting for his position.

“I think we have now several options for this position.

“We played there with Diego Gomez. We played there with Maxim De Cuyper, so now Kaoru is back and that's what we wanted to have, competition for every position.”

Ferdi Kadioglu and De Cuyper appear to have struck up an understanding on the left, although it remains unclear whether they will face Mo Salah at any point.

Hurzeler said: “You have to think about what is the best connection on the pitch, what is the best pair regarding the full-back and winger who can defend? But also a pair that can attack.

“We try to make the best decision tomorrow. I'm quite pleased with how Ferdi and Maxim performed there when they played in these positions.”

Liverpool's build-up has been dominated by talk over Salah's future.

But Hurzeler said: "I just say to my players, ‘it's about us’. It's about focusing on our principles and our style of play. We go there, we know no matter what situation Liverpool are in, it will be a big challenge."
