BBC Sport: Everton's players are now privately saying something very exciting about Kiernan…

Everton travel to Chelsea on Saturday and the narrative is naturally going to fall around Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s return to his former side.

The 27-year-old midfielder has been absolutely magnificent for Everton since he made the move to Merseyside over the summer.

David Moyes is thrilled with Dewsbury-Hall’s performances that have helped propel the Toffees into the top half of the table.

There is a real opportunity for Everton on Saturday, with three points able to take them above Enzo Maresca’s side.

For Moyes, each game has to be taken one at a time and he will be relying on the likes of Dewsbury-Hall to maintain his recent performance levels.

Those inside the club are already beginning to come to the same exciting conclusion after watching the midfielder over recent weeks.

According to BBC Sport, Dewsbury-Hall is a figure that is getting on well with everyone inside the club behind the scenes.

There are some players in the dressing room who are even suggesting that he could become the next captain on Merseyside.

Perhaps the strongest bond formed at Everton is with Jack Grealish, with the pair having mutual friends ahead of their respective moves over the summer.

Dewsbury-Hall has been blown away by Everton’s supporters and the love they have been sending his way.

However, that is all fully earned through his simply incredible displays of late in the absence of Idrissa Gana Gueye.

Dewsbury-Hall is becoming a role model at Everton

He may only be a matter of months into his time at the club, but Dewsbury-Hall really is leading by example at Everton.

Dewsbury-Hall praised Thierno Barry massively at the weekend after the striker finally ended his drought in front of goal.

The 27-year-old midfielder was clearly the Man of the Match for the comfortable win over Nottingham Forest, but he passed the praise on to his teammate following his struggles.

That is exactly the type of leadership that Everton need going forward, with the midfielder already becoming one of the key leaders at the club.

Now, it is time for him to make his old club regret their decision to sell him.
