Arne Slot has held talks with Mo Salah about the future and his inclusion against Brighton, while three fitness updates were also offered by the Liverpool head coach.
Arne Slot holds talks with Mo Salah
Slot provided the latest update in the Salah saga on Friday, with the coach saying that the Egyptian’s inclusion against Brighton would be based on talks with the player.
“I’ll speak with him today and the outcome of that conversation determines how things will look tomorrow,” the head coach explained.
“We’ve spoken a lot in the last week, after the Sunderland game I think there have been a lot of conversations between his representatives and our representatives, and between him and me after the Sunderland game.”

Slot also said that the decision to leave him out of the squad to face Inter was a joint decision with sporting director Richard Hughes.
Asked directly if he would like Salah to stay at Liverpool, Slot replied: “I have no reason not to want him to stay.”
In that case, whoever it is who has to make the first step, they should probably start patching things up.

With Salah’s future in question, James Nalton has assessed why the Egyptian made his controversial comments and why he feels as though someone may want him out of the club:
“Salah refers a couple of times to ‘someone’. Whether he himself knows who this is, we don’t know, but given the sporting structure and hierarchy at Liverpool, there are more people it could be, more people making decisions at the club that affect players than just Arne Slot.
“The mysterious entity in this scenario could be the sporting direction team, consisting currently of Richard Hughes at club level and above him at FSG level, Michael Edwards, who must take some of the blame for the way this has panned out.”

Liverpool FC: On this day
On December 12, 1977 Liverpool played a friendly against St. Mirren at their old ground in Paisley, Love Street, to commemorate their centenary.
The match ended 1-1 with Kenny Dalglish scoring before the Reds won a penalty shoot-out 5-4.
Phil Neal, Emlyn Hughes, Terry McDermott, Ray Kennedy and David Johnson all netted their spot-kicks, as Ray Clemence saved Frank McGarvey’s penalty – the Glaswegian would later sign for Liverpool, making the bench four times.
