Played for Both – Chelsea V Everton

Ahead of tomorrow’s game against Chelsea, we reflect on some players who’ve featured for both teams.

5 – Samuel Eto’o

It was somewhat surreal seeing Samuel Eto’o in an Everton shirt. Truly one of the great centre-forwards of his era, the Cameroonian spent half a season with the Blues.

Scored on his debut for Everton, which happened to be against Chelsea, in a game remembered for an ill-advised Mo Besic backheal.

Eto’o scored four goals across 20 appearances for Everton, including a brace away at Burnley. He also starred in a tremendous advert for an Everton Christmas jumper.

4 – Romelu Lukaku

We sold Lukaku almost a decade ago now and are still yet to replace him. A beast of a centre-forward who played his best stuff at Goodison Park.

If we had a finisher half as good as the Belgian, we’d be flying up that league now. The Toffees briefly had a forward line of Samuel Eto’o and Romelu Lukaku. We still came 11th, like.

3 – Armando Broja

I almost totally forgot this lad played for us. One of the many, many strikers we’ve signed post-Lukaku who’ve stunk the place out.

He was unfortunate with injuries, to be fair, but was one underwhelming player during a particularly underwhelming period.

10 games and no goals in a season-long loan which we unsurprisingly decided not to make permanent.

2 – Graham Stuart

FA Cup winner and scorer of an infamous brace against Wimbledon in 1994. Diamond really earned that cult hero status.

Now an ambassador for the club, Stuart scored 22 goals in 136 appearances for the Blues.

1 – Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall

He’s been outstanding since joining in the summer and is arguably our Player of the Season thus far.

Three goals in his last five games, the 27-year-old has been pulling the strings in Everton’s midfield.

He’ll go to Stamford Bridge tomorrow with a point to prove. Another performance like last week would do just nicely.
