Three predictions for Chelsea's clash with Everton with a 222-day streak broken

Chelsea go into this weekend knowing nothing but a win against Everton will quiet the concerns that many have voiced recently.

History is on the side of the Blues. David Moyes has never won a game at Stamford Bridge.

That guarantees nothing, but it’s a small source of confidence for a Chelsea side that will be feeling the hangover of a winless start to December.

David Moyes defended Chelsea’s form in his press conference, reminding everyone that these are the current world champions and that the criticism might be overblown.

As unpredictable as the Blues have been lately, The Chelsea Chronicle have three educated guesses at how the afternoon might unfold.

Enzo Maresca is ready to give Andrey Santos and Jorrel Hato a chance 👏

Jorrel Hato steps up in place of Marc Cucurella

Marc Cucurella has been one of the world’s best left-backs this season, but he has to be feeling the fatigue of the recent jam-packed schedule.

Maresca has gotten stick for rotating so much, but sometimes it’s necessary. He spoke about the Spaniard potentially lacking energy against Atalanta, and his comments about Jorrel Hato suggest he is considering giving the 19-year-old a chance.

We think Hato will grab it with both hands and show himself to be an able deputy for Cucurella moving forward. He has all the talent, it’s now just about finding the confidence.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall stars for Everton

Since leaving Chelsea in the summer, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has found a home for himself at the Hill Dickinson stadium.

He couldn’t break into the first-team picture at Stamford Bridge. Maresca explained why Dewsbury-Hall didn’t work out at Chelsea — that it was solely down to opportunity, or lack thereof.

But he has been on fire at Everton.

The script feels set for him to continue his flying form against his old club, but hopefully it won’t be enough to force more dropped points.

Cole Palmer scores at Stamford Bridge for the first time since May

222 days ago, Cole Palmer scored against Liverpool.

Since then, the Stamford Bridge faithful have been deprived of his iconic celebration, but we reckon that drought comes to an end against the Toffees.

Palmer is available to play against Everton, and his four-goal demolition of them last season suggests he will be in and around the goals.

We don’t quite know what version of Palmer we’re getting this weekend after such a long absence, but a goal feels close for the Chelsea talisman. And it’s sure to please the home crowd if he can break the streak en route to a vital win.
