The Golden State Warriors have an "open desire" to acquire Trey Murphy III and could build a trade package around Jonathan Kuminga.
The Golden State Warriors and their forward Jonathan Kuminga will be names to watch as we slowly approach the NBA trade deadline.
Golden State Warriors / Schedule
The Warriors are widely expected to trade Kuminga once he becomes eligible on January 15, and there is reportedly one player they have expressed an "open desire" to acquire.
According to NBA writer Sam Amick of The Athletic, the Warriors are interested in New Orleans Pelicans forward Trey Murphy III and could build a trade package around Jonathan Kuminga.
"For quite some time now, the Warriors have been open about their desire to acquire the Pelicans’ Trey Murphy III," Amick reports.
"But if they’re going to use Kuminga to do that, it would be helpful to know how, if at all, the Pelicans value the Warriors’ 23-year-old forward. For the time being, the feedback is mixed on that front. ’Tis the season for smokescreens, after all."
Trey Murphy has been impressive to start this season, averaging 21.2 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 3.6 assists in around 35 minutes per game.
On the other hand, Kuminga has been inconsistent, averaging 12.4 points on a career-worst 43.8 percent shooting in 17 appearances with the Warriors this season.
