Man City keen on Ligue 1 ‘keeper

Manchester City will be buoyed by Wednesday’s 2-1 win against Real Madrid in the Champions League when they face Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday.

Pep Guardiola’s side came from behind to get the better of the Spanish giants in Madrid, with Erling Haaland netting his 21st goal of the season in the game.

The Norwegian will fancy his chances of adding to that tally at Selhurst Park on Saturday, but City will be well aware of the dangers posed by the Eagles.

The south London side currently sit fourth in the Premier League table, just two places behind City.

Now, though, it appears that Guardiola is eyeing a move for a Ligue 1 star.

As per Fichajes, the Man City manager has identified Lille goalkeeper Berke Ozer as a transfer target, despite signing two new ‘keepers over the summer.

Ozer, 25, has been in impressive form for Lille so far this season, keeping five clean sheets in 13 Ligue 1 matches.

Having joined Lille from Turkish side Eyupspor over the summer, Ozer has made a flying start to life in France and is quickly establishing himself as one of the most talented goalkeepers not only in France, but in Europe.

Earlier this season Ozer impressed by saving three penalties in a Europa League tie against Roma, with the same spot-kick being retaken due to VAR intervention.

He then saved another penalty against Young Boys in the Europa League, and Guardiola is said to value that particular attribute in goalkeepers.

City’s interest in the Turk comes despite the Manchester club signing both James Trafford and Gianluigi Donnarumma over the summer, with the latter having established himself as first-choice ‘keeper since joining from French champions Paris Saint-Germain.
