The 28-year-old Manchester United youth academy product is spending the 2025-26 La Liga campaign on loan after leaving Old Trafford back in the summer window.

Barcelona agreed to sign Marcus Rashford on loan in July and the La Liga club are covering the United star’s hefty wages as part of his loan spell at the Camp Nou.

Rashford could see his transfer turn permanent in 2026, with United including the option for Barcelona to sign the England star for a £30.3m transfer fee.

The United forward had spent the second half of the 2024-25 Premier League campaign out on loan after Rashford signed for Aston Villa back in February.

Marcus Rashford has impressed at Barcelona since the Three Lions international left Old Trafford and became part of Hansi Flick’s first-team squad for this season.

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has turned to Rashford as a key player this season and the Manchester United star has regularly featured for the Spanish side.

Rashford has netted six times and registered 11 assists in 21 matches across all competitions for the defending La Liga champions in the 2025-26 campaign.

Speaking to BBC Sport, the former Aston Villa forward spoke about Barcelona’s clear-cut message to “simply” pick up a “win” at all costs this season.

“It’s a club that demands this [winning all the time],” he said.

“The environment is always pushing us to be the best players we can be so it’s perfect to be in a place like this as a player.”

Barcelona are locked in a heated title race with La Liga rivals Real Madrid, with Hansi Flick’s men four points clear of Los Blancos after 16 matches this season.

Rashford left United during the 2024-25 campaign and signed for Villa after the England international fell out of favour with manager Ruben Amorim at the club.

The United forward has admitted that he is adapting to the demands of playing for Barcelona and is not feeling the pressure as he once did at Old Trafford.

“I don’t see anything here as like a pressure,” Rashford added.

“It’s just, I’m here to play football.

“It’s been amazing. I feel welcome, I feel at home. I’ve just been enjoying every step of the way.”

Rashford lifted a Europa League trophy, two FA Cups and two League Cups at the Red Devils after he emerged from the Premier League club’s youth set-up.
