Major injury blow for Brighton ahead of Liverpool - but three return
Liverpool vs Brighton in the Premier League from Anfield - Saturday, 3pm
Mo Salah has held talks with Liverpool manager Arne Slot and is expected to be included in the matchday squad to face Brighton on Saturday.
Salah, 33, was left out of Liverpool’s squad for Tuesday’s Champions League victory at Inter Milan. The attacker claimed his relationship with Slot had broken down and that he’d been thrown under the bus for Liverpool’s recent troubles.
Salah, who has five goals from 18 Premier League and Champions League appearances this season, had been benched for three consecutive matches prior to his outburst.
The temporary truce between Salah and Slot is believed to be an uneasy one and Slot may be allowing Salah back into the fold due to injuries and concerns with the form of summer signing Alexander Isak.
Salah departs for the Africa Cup of Nations on Monday and has hinted that the game against Brighton at Anfield could be his last for Liverpool.
Salah is lethal against Brighton
The Egyptian has a lethal record against the Seagulls and that could also be in thinking of Slot as he prepares his struggling team to face eighth placed Brighton. He's had 17 direct goal involvements against the Seagulls, with 10 goals and seven assists in 18 appearances against the south coast club.
“Hopefully he’s not available then!” said Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler when Salah’s impressive stats were put to him.
“But no, we always want to face the best players and the best teams.
“We want this challenge and to be honest we don't have any idea how Liverpool will play, with which players, which formation.
“So I just say to my players, ‘it's about us’. It's about focusing on our principles and our style of play.
“We go there, we know no matter what situation Liverpool are in, it will be a big challenge.
“So we try to face it and we try to go there to win this game.”
