Other managers now have a theory on how Mo Salah can still save his Liverpool career - journalist

Mohamed Salah has seen himself linked with a number of clubs and leagues after his outburst last weekend.

It’s anyone’s guess what the future holds for the 33-year-old, but we already know that the Saudi Pro League remains interested.

Salah’s agent is making contact with sides about his client as well, with an update this week saying he has spoken to Italian clubs.

But what if the Egyptian didn’t move and was somehow able to fix the problems he caused with his comments after Leeds United?

He is under contract until 2027, and there have been murmurs Liverpool would like to keep Salah until that deal expires.

Mohamed Salah needs to work hard and support his Liverpool teammates

Now, journalist Andy Jones has shared what other managers have been saying about Salah and how he could repair the damage caused at Liverpool in the last week.

Speaking on the Walk On podcast, he said: “Because I was speaking to, you know, spoken to a few people around football about this, and like, sort of managers who’ve been involved in similar situations where players are kicking up a stink. And they say the media stuff they don’t like.

“But what saves a player is have they trained well? Are they still focused on the training? Are they still being supportive to the teammates, even though they’re angry themselves?

“Like most managers accept, you know, the players aren’t going to be happy if they’re not in the team. And most managers want those sorts of players, because if you’re happy out the team, what value do you have? Salah is an exceptional case because of his profile and what he’s delivered for Liverpool over such a long period of time.

“And I guess, you know, the baggage that he brings. But I think those issues will be key. You know, if Salah has gone back into training this week and he’s right at it, and he’s, you know, he’s been supportive to his teammates and he’s not being disruptive and he’s happy that the team’s won, then maybe Slot might think, well, you know what? Let’s give him another go.”

Big decision for Arne Slot

Slot dropped Salah on Tuesday, but he’s since come out to say that was a group decision, not just his call.

In the aftermath of the game, his teammates did not say anything negative about the winger, with Andy Robertson stating he still wanted to keep playing with the star forward, as per BBC Sport.

He said: “I signed in the same window as him. Whatever has happened, happened. Internally, we’re all together.”

So if Salah has his fellow players on side, it may just be Slot who needs convincing he is ready to return.

Of course, that may not be what the player wants, and a January move could end up being on the cards.

However, as Gary Lineker said, it would be a sad way for Salah to leave Liverpool after so many positive memories over the years.
