Liverpool’s midweek win at Inter Milan extended their unbeaten run to four games ahead of Saturday’s visit of Brighton to Anfield. A thunderous couple of days in Milan followed an extraordinary outburst from Mohamed Salah, coming just a week before he heads to the Africa Cup of Nations with Egypt, which sent shockwaves across Europe.
Despite the controversy, Salah’s teammates rallied at the San Siro, with Dominik Szoboszlai’s late penalty securing a hard-fought victory for Arne Slot’s side. While four games without defeat is a positive, back-to-back draws against Sunderland and Leeds highlight that consistency remains an issue. Salah’s dip in form prior to being left out of the squad was noticeable, but he will return for the clash against Brighton.
Meanwhile, Liverpool youngsters Kobi Akerele and Luca Eden have been named in England’s Under-16 squad for a December double-header against the Netherlands. Under-16s head coach Barry Lewtas, supported by assistant coaches Ben Futcher and Matt Hill, will lead the squad at St. George’s Park. The Young Lions will play two 80-minute matches against the Dutch on Wednesday, December 17, and Thursday, December 18, with the group reporting to Burton-on-Trent over the weekend ahead of the camp.
