The agent of Chelsea outcast Axel Disasi has approached Real Madrid over a potential loan deal for the January transfer window, according to reports from Spain. This comes as the Spanish giants continue to grapple with a mounting injury crisis in defence.
The 27-year-old French centre-back, who cost Chelsea €45million when he joined from AS Monaco in 2023, has been frozen out of the first team. He is currently training with the club’s development squad.
Real Madrid are dealing with unprecedented defensive issues ahead of their LaLiga fixture against Alaves this weekend. Centre-back Eder Militao has been ruled out for three to four months after suffering a serious hamstring injury during the 2-0 defeat to Celta Vigo on Sunday.
This has left manager Xabi Alonso with only Raul Asencio and Antonio Rudiger as fit senior centre-backs. The injury list at the Santiago Bernabeu has grown alarmingly long in recent weeks. Right-back Dani Carvajal is out until February 2026 following knee surgery, while summer signing Trent Alexander-Arnold remains sidelined with a hamstring problem.
David Alaba continues his lengthy absence, and left-back Ferland Mendy has suffered another setback that will keep him out until around December 20. Dean Huijsen is also unavailable due to injury.
Disasi’s representatives have made contact with Los Blancos in recent days to gauge their interest in a temporary deal. The report suggests the defender’s camp has not hesitated to explore the possibility given Madrid’s well-documented defensive shortage.
Disasi has endured a difficult period at Chelsea since he arrived from Monaco. The Frenchman made 61 appearances for the Blues across all competitions, scoring five goals and providing two assists, but has not featured for the first team this season.
Maresca has repeatedly confirmed there is no route back into the squad for the defender, who has been playing for Chelsea’s Under-21 side to maintain fitness. The 27-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa, featuring in both the Premier League and Champions League.
However, he returned to Stamford Bridge in the summer after a permanent move failed to materialise, and Chelsea remain keen to find a solution for the defender in January.
Real Madrid’s response to Axel Disasi offer
Real Madrid have decided against pursuing a move for Disasi despite their injury problems, according to reports in Spain. Sources at the club reportedly responded negatively when asked about the potential loan deal.
Los Blancos have maintained a firm stance on not making emergency signings during the January transfer window, even with Militao facing several months on the sidelines. The club believe they have sufficient cover with Aurelien Tchouameni capable of filling in at centre-back if required.
The Spanish champions have received numerous approaches from agents and clubs offering defensive reinforcements since Militao’s injury. However, the message from Valdebebas remains clear that no additions will be made in the middle of the campaign, regardless of how attractive the terms might be.
Chelsea, meanwhile, continue their efforts to find a suitable destination for Disasi. Lyon have emerged as frontrunners for a loan deal, while Newcastle United, Borussia Dortmund, Juventus, West Ham United, and Galatasaray have all been linked with the former France international.
