The Los Angeles Lakers are dealing with another key setback as Austin Reaves has been diagnosed with a mild left calf strain.
On Friday, reporters were told that the team will miss Reaves for at least one week. He will be evaluated next week to get a better idea of his return date.
Reaves was present for the Lakers' NBA cup action against the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday. During that game, he appeared in 39 minutes of action. He struggled from the floor, making just six of his 16 shots. Reaves finished the game with 15 points.

Along with his scoring, Reaves produced eight rebounds and dished out seven assists. The Lakers struggled against the Spurs, dropping the matchup 132-119, and were eliminated from the tournament action.
The Lakers have managed to maintain their success, even while facing key setbacks throughout the year. Reaves is just the latest to have to go out.
This season, Reaves is off to a strong start. In 21 games, he saw the court for 36.9 minutes per game. The star guard is putting up 27.8 points per game, while shooting 36 percent from beyond the arc. He is also coming down with 5.6 rebounds per game and producing 6.7 assists per outing.

Reaves missed three games earlier this season, back in November. When he's on the court, the Lakers hold a 15-6 record in 2025-2026. Overall, they are 17-7 on the year, sitting fourth in the Western Conference.
The Lakers will be back on the floor on Sunday, December 14, to take on the Phoenix Suns. They'll get several days off before facing the Utah Jazz. Assuming Reaves' return won't happen until after next Friday, the earliest he could return to the court is next Saturday, when the Lakers pay a visit to the Los Angeles Clippers.
