The San Antonio Spurs superstar dropped confident words regarding his place among the NBA's best.
Victor Wembanyama is pretty much confident in his place among the NBA's biggest stars.
On Friday, the San Antonio Spurs phenom dropped intriguing words on who he currently thinks is the league's best player.
The trio of Nikola Jokic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Giannis Antetokounmpo is commonly considered by the majority as the Top 3 best basketball players in the world.
Considering the accolades and the achievements of these three, Wembanyama still has a lot of work to do to match them.
But Wembanyama has the tools and capabilities to pull it off. He is currently averaging career highs in points (26.2), rebounds (12.9) and assists (4.0) while leading the league in blocks. And given his generational talent, he definitely has the potential to go beyond the three of them and become the greatest ever.
But the challenge right now for Wembanyama is becoming healthy. He only played 46 games last season after being diagnosed with life-threatening deep vein thrombosis (blood clots) in his right shoulder.
As such, he already missed 12 consecutive games due to a calf strain this 2025-26 outing, leading to the Spurs' NBA Cup semifinal matchup against the OKC Thunder.
As he is expected to make his return since mid-November, Wembanyama has a golden chance to solidify his statement against Gilgeous-Alexander this weekend under the bright lights of Las Vegas.
