SGA offered perfect words about the significance of potentially beating the Warriors' 73-win campaign for the Thunder.
Although winning it all for the second straight year is their main priority, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is also aiming to clinch the historic regular-season record this year for the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Addressing the media on Friday, the reigning league MVP simply understands the significance of beating the 2015-66 Golden State Warriors' 73-9 record for OKC.
"Absolutely," he said. "Winning matters, no matter what form it looks like to me."
At 24-1, Gilgeous-Alexander and the Thunder recently tied the Warriors' best start in league history in the first 25 games, positioning themselves to potentially establish the new greatest regular-season run of all time after a decade.
Beating Curry and the Warriors' 73-win record will be a major accomplishment for SGA and the Thunder, and it would be even more gratifying if they can win the NBA championship, as the Dubs notably fell short of claiming their own.
As such, leading arguably the greatest team of all time would be even more tremendous for Gilgeous-Alexander's legacy, as his superstardom continues to grow across the NBA.
Right now, it seems that the Canadian star and his OKC group aren't putting themselves too far ahead, as they have an upcoming knockout showdown against the San Antonio Spurs in Saturday's NBA Cup semis.
