Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry
Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry (30) looks on against the Phoenix Suns in the second quarter at Chase Center.
Key Points
Steph Curry is finally making his highly anticipated return to action on Friday as the Golden State Warriors face off against the Minnesota Timberwolves in a home game at Chase Center. The former back-to-back MVP was forced to miss his team’s last five games due to a quad injury, but he was able to overcome the issue in time for Friday’s matchup.
Curry had been making significant progress in his road to recovery throughout the week, and the Warriors finally gave him the green light to suit up after being sidelined for the past two weeks. Golden State head coach Steve Kerr had more good news about Curry as he spoke to reporters prior to tip-off.

Curry has played in 16 out of the Warriors’ 25 games this season. The 37-year-old has produced averages of 27.9 points on 47.1% shooting, 3.7 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.3 steals. Curry is also knocking down 4.7 triples per game on a 39.1% clip. He’s done so in 31.1 minutes per game, and it appears that he will be able to take on this usual load on Friday.
Kerr made an important announcement about Curry right before Friday’s game. According to the four-time NBA champion coach, Curry will not have a minutes restriction against Minnesota. This suggests that Curry is fully healthy and will not be limited in his return from a lengthy injury spell.
It is also worth noting that while Draymond Green will not be available for Friday’s contest due to personal reasons, Kerr also revealed that the former Defensive Player of the Year will rejoin the team for Sunday’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers. Green’s final status for that one, however, remains uncertain.
The Warriors, who are currently 13-12 on the season, enter Friday’s game against Minnesota behind back-to-back wins. They will be looking to keep this hot streak going with Curry back in the mix and Green nearing his return.
