'The message is': Fabrizio Romano shares what Liverpool insiders are saying about Salah after meeting with Slot

Mohamed Salah is set to be included in Liverpool’s matchday squad for Saturday’s game against Brighton after speaking with Arne Slot.

Debate has been raging all week about whether the Egyptian would be left out once again after being left at home for Tuesday’s trip to Milan.

However, Slot left the door open for Salah’s return during Friday morning’s press conference, stating that a meeting with the player would determine his availability.

It has since been revealed that talks between the two men has led to Salah being included for what is another crucial Premier League match for Liverpool.

Despite this small positive step, though, journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Liverpool insiders are under no illusions that problems still remain.

Liverpool insiders still aware of Mohamed Salah problem

While it is clearly a good development that Salah will be with the team for the Brighton game, there is seemingly still a chance that this is merely a chance for the 33-year-old to say goodbye.

Speaking on his YouTube channel on Friday, Romano shares some details of Salah’s meeting with Slot, explaining that people at Liverpool do not see this painful chapter as being closed.

“Around 6pm the outcome of that face-to-face meeting between Arne Slot and Mo Salah after training, sources close to the situation describe that as a good meeting between the parties,” says the reporter. “Good in terms of the face-to-face discussion that they had.

“At the same time from sources close to Liverpool the message is okay, there is still work to do before saying everything is okay between Mo Salah and the club and the coach and Liverpool in general.

“But the conversation was seen as positive, this is why Salah is included in the matchday squad to play Brighton at Anfield.”

Liverpool are aware of interest in Salah

Being a transfer expert, Romano also provided the latest on any potential January sale for Salah.

Saturday will be his final game before heading off to AFCON, and many fans are concerned that their Egyptian King will depart midway through the season.

“The message from Liverpool when asked if Mo Salah can leave in January is: if he wants to go, bring proposals.

“They are aware of interest from Saudi, they were already at the beginning of 2025 ahead of the summer transfer window, then Salah signed a new contract at the club, but they always wanted him. Liverpool know that.

“But they are like, okay, he’s under contract until 2027, if you want to get him, bring proposals. If Salah wants to go, bring proposals. At the moment Liverpool maintain their position that they’re not putting Salah on the market.”
