Liverpool are once again on the market for new attacking players
The Reds have been significantly linked with Los Blancos since even before their signing of Trent Alexander-Arnold. This time, it’s Liverpool who are looking to coax a player away.
The Premier League champions want to further strengthen their options in attack, despite spending the majority of their money on new creative players over the summer.
Hugo Ekitike, Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak all joined the club during Liverpool’s record-breaking transfer window. However, things have been struggling to click at Anfield and their form has paid a huge price.
Liverpool ‘strong contenders’ to sign Real Madrid star
According to Fichajes, Liverpool have emerged as ‘strong contenders’ to sign Arda Guler from Real Madrid, The 20-year-old has quickly become a highly sought-after talent ahead of the upcoming transfer windows, and the Reds aren’t alone in their interest.
Arsenal and Man United have joined Liverpool in the running for Guler and all three clubs have reportedly ‘made moves’ in attempt to sign him. The Premier League trio are ‘aware’ of his huge potential.
The Turkish midfielder has put himself in the spotlight thanks to his ‘versatility, creativity, and adaptability’. Guler can play centrally or on the wing and combines quickly with teammates, making him an attractive option for those looking to level up their attacking avenues.
Arsenal have been described as ‘one of the most active contenders’ in the race to sign Guler, but Liverpool also seem to be making moves in their own pursuit.
Will Real Madrid sell Arda Guler?
The report claims that any potential deal for Guler in 2026 will ‘largely depend’ on how Real Madrid view his position at the club. If the Spanish powerhouses decide he doesn’t suit the club’s long-term plans, they may be open to offers from rival teams.
However, if they are looking to make Guler a significant part of their plans moving forwards, the likes of Liverpool, United and Arsenal will need to play a longer game in their attempt to snap him up.
Liverpool will already be familiar with Guler, having faced him just last month in the Champions League. The 20-year-old was named in the starting line-up for Real Madrid’s visit to Anfield. He started alongside Aurelien Tchouameni in midfield, just behind Jude Bellingham and played 81 minutes before being replaced by Alexander-Arnold in his prickly homecoming.
The report brands Guler an ‘exciting’ target for Liverpool, as his profile ‘fits perfectly’ with their fluid style of attacking play. At just 20, he would also mark a smart signing for the future, especially as Liverpool are starting to focus on signing long-term successors for more senior members of the team.
Guler has contributed three goals and seven assists so far this season, mostly from midfield. However, he did enjoy grabbing a goal and an assist against Atletico Madrid in September while playing at right-wing, which could also be an interesting road to explore as Mohamed Salah’s future remains a huge topic of conversation.
