Anthony Davis shares honest reaction to the trade

Anthony Davis once again discussed the trade that sent him and Max Christie from the Lakers to the Mavericks, noting that while he adjusted smoothly, Christie had to find his own way to cope with the sudden move.

Dallas Mavericks star Anthony Davis has already been the subject of numerous trade rumors this season, with three Eastern Conference teams reportedly interested in acquiring him.

However, so far, much of the speculation has amounted to little, with no team actively pursuing the 32-year-old.

Time will tell whether Davis will be traded again before the February 5 trade deadline. He was previously dealt, along with guard Max Christie, from the Los Angeles Lakers to the Mavericks in the blockbuster Luka Doncic trade.

To this moment, Davis feels something about that day. After Friday's 119-111 win over the Brooklyn Nets, he shared an in-depth response on how he and Christie navigated being packaged together and adjusting to life in Dallas.

"We haven't really talked about it [the trade]," AD said, via Abby Jones of DLLS Sports. "When it first happened, and we first got here, I knew some of the guys, but he was still young, so he didn't know anybody. So, it was a smooth transition [for me] because I knew the coaches, but he's found his guys.

"He's found his own ways where he can kinda cope with the trade. Max is a really quality guy ... Initially, when the trade happened, I don't really think there was anything I could've said that would've made him understand, about the business -- especially when it's like a shocker -- he really didn't know what was going on, or understand.

"Sometimes in this league, you kinda gotta go through it and go through the journey to see what it's like. I think he came out better, you know, with the trade. He's flourishing."

Davis is earning $54.1 million this season and $58.5 million next season, with a player option worth $62.8 million in 2027–28, when he will be 35. This massive contract could make him an attractive target for just a few teams in the league.

Now in his 14th NBA season, AD is averaging 20.0 points, 10.5 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.6 blocks, and 1.4 steals per game. He has appeared in 11 games so far after missing several weeks due to a left calf strain.
