Fowler Breaks Down Arne Slot’s Summer Signings
The first part of the 2025/26 season has been anything other than straightforward for Arne Slot and his Liverpool squad. Their form has been widely inconsistent, with losses against Brentford, Crystal Palace, and Nottingham Forest.
The devastating passing of Diogo Jota and the departure of Luis Diaz have seemingly affected the club more than anyone could have imagined. The board backed the manager to find the replacements, but it’s been far from plain sailing in the first half of the season.

When discussing the summer signings, Fowler identified Hugo Ekitike as the stand out:
“I don’t think any of Liverpool’s summer signings are living up to their tag just yet, probably other than Ekitike. I think Ekitike has been the standout player. I genuinely think there’s a player in Wirtz but he’s finding it difficult to come to terms with the speed and the energy of the Premier League. It’s been difficult for Frimpong because everyone is thinking he’s going to replace Trent when he’s not really played in that position in his career,” said Fowler.
The Potential of Milos Kerkez
Discussing Kerkez and his previous good form for Bournemouth and his potential to suceed at Anfield, Fowler said:
“Kerkez was outstanding in the Premier League last year. Is he ready now? I don’t know, but I think he will be. I genuinely think Isak will come good. He’s probably not as fit as he should be, but he’s a player who will adapt to the Premier League because he knows how to do that.“
