Marc Cucurella makes huge claim about Everton game – we’ll see if he’s right

Chelsea take on Everton at Stamford Bridge today after a run of 4 games without a win. Their title race turned into a battle for the top 4 in the space of a fortnight, and given how tight the table is, 3 points today is essential.

One person who knows that is Marc Cucurella, who has emerged as one of the leaders of this group. Speaking ahead of the game, he tried to get the message across that this is a big deal.

“It is very important [for us to get back to winning ways]. For me, this is one of the most important games of the season because we played really well before the last two weeks and then we have struggled to win these last two weeks,” the full back said in quotes on the club’s official website.

“We will be playing at home, we need these three points and we want to stay up there [near the top of the table] again so I think it is a very important game.”

Well, if that’s the case, we expect to see an all action, committed performance right from the first whistle, which is just minutes away. If the team can’t get up for their “most important games,” there’s something seriously wrong.

In other news…

Enzo Maresca didn’t pick Andrey Santos for today’s game, which shows there’s still a lack of trust from the coach in the Brazil international, something fans just can’t understand when the team needs a physical presence and a natural midfielder.

Estevao Willian has also been left out of the team today which is frustrating some fans – we took a look at why it might be in our piece here.
