Chelsea may be forced to accelerate the transfer of Emmanuel Emegha after the serious injury suffered by Liam Delap.
Signed from Ipswich Town in the summer, Delap has already suffered a series of injury setbacks, with the latest a serious shoulder injury he picked up in the goalless draw at Bournemouth that is expected to keep him out for at least two months.
And that leaves Chelsea seriously depleted in forward areas, with João Pedro now their own recognised central striker.
They have already agreed to sign Emegha from sister club Strasbourg next summer, but now they are considering bringing that forward, and renegotiating the terms of the deal.
Emegha recently faced disciplinary action from the French club after he gave an interview to a Dutch publication in which he did not know where Strasbourg was when he signed for them, and thought they were based in Germany.
