Liverpool v Brighton: Anfield reacts as Mohamed Salah comes on after Joe Gomez injury

Reaction from Brighton’s loss against Liverpool from Anfield

Brighton suffered a further blow during thier 2-0 loss at Premier League champions Liverpool.

The Seagulls were well beaten thanks to a goal in each half from Hugo Ekitike. There was even an appearance off the bench from Mohamed Salah as the Egyptian replaced the injured Joe Gomez on 26 minutes.

Albion looked off the pace through out at Anfield and significantly there was a second half booking for skipper Lewis Dunk as he fouled Ekitike.

It was Dunk's fifth booking of the campaign, which means the centre back will now be suspended for next Saturday's home clash against Sunderland.

The 33-year-old will now have Christmas off and should be available for selection once again for the trip to Arsenal on December 27.

Premier League rules state: "Any player who earns five bookings from their side's first 19 Premier League matches of a season will have to serve a one-match ban in the same competition."

Four Brighton players on four bookings

Brighton also have a number of players on four bookings with Carlos Baleba, Mats Wieffer, Ferdi Kadioglu and Diego Gomez all walking a disciplinary tightrope. Although Baleba's situation is less urgent as he heads off on Monday to the AFCON with Cameroon.

Baleba was once again below his best at Anfield and was replaced by Yasin Ayari after 64 minutes.

The loss at Liverpool - Albion’s fourth away defeat of the season - saw Brighton slip to ninth in the table with just one point from their last three matches.
