Liverpool put in one of their best performances of the season after beating Brighton 2-0 in a fairly comfortable afternoon.
There has been a lot of noise surrounding the club this week, and most of it not good, although they put this all to one side and got a valuable three points.

This was one of their only league games this season where they were convincing throughout, with this looking much more like the Liverpool everyone knows.
It was Hugo Ekitike who ran the show, though, after netting a brace, with many in the squad rating highly against the Seagulls.
Defence
Alisson Becker: 7 – Didn’t have a great deal to do in the first half but stayed on his toes to rush out and make a good save one-on-one. Also not loads to do in the second 45 minutes, but again, was there when called upon.
Joe Gomez: 6 – Did well to win the header to assist Ekitike early into the game and almost got a second too, but was then taken off after just 26 minutes due to an injury. History, yet again, repeats itself.
Ibrahima Konate: 7 – Used his pace and strength to good effect when making recovery runs and, again, looked a little more reliable.

Virgil van Dijk: 7 – Won the physical battles against Rutter and dominated in his duels. Was also good on the ball and helped move it a lot quicker than in previous weeks. Clean sheet again, cannot complain.

Milos Kerkez: 7 – Was lively and put in a few strong tackles, which the Anfield crowd loved. He also did fairly well up against Minteh, who can be one of the more frightening wingers in the league on his day, but Kerkez didn’t allow him much time on the ball.
Midfield
Ryan Gravenberch: 7 – Another solid outing from the Dutchman, with his performance being a bit more attacking this time which was good to see. Linked up well with those around him and the balance in the middle of the park just feels much better.
Alexis Mac Allister: 6 – Worked hard as always and was dangerous at points on the ball, just not everything came off for him. With that said, looks to have found his feet again and this midfield is certainly Slot’s best.
Curtis Jones: 8 – The heartbeat of the team during this one as everything went through him. Worked hard, defended well and carried it forward where he could. Slowly establishing himself into one of the more important players in the side.
Attack
Dominik Szoboszlai: 7 – Worked hard and was dangerous before being forced to right-back. Still did a good job and got forward where he could, with a few of his runs showing how he can still be a threat wherever he is asked to play.
Hugo Ekitike: 10 – Took his goal brilliantly in the opening minute with a good touch but even better finish, with his second goal also taken well too. He was a nuisance throughout, used his pace to good effect and the crowd absolutely loved his performance. As well as being clinical, his link-up play was brilliant too, with it looking like Liverpool have an excellent prospect on their hands.

Florian Wirtz: 7 – Roamed around with freedom and looked like he enjoyed it. Saw more of his ball-carrying ability and created a fair few chances that others probably should have done better with. Another good performance that shows how he is starting to settle in well.
Substitutes
Mohamed Salah: 7 – Came on to a huge ovation and started with a real point to prove. He was unselfish and linked the play well, with this performance showing he still has plenty to give. Let’s hope this is not the last time he is seen in a Liverpool shirt.
Andy Robertson: 5 – Came on towards the end at left-wing, rather surprisingly. Didn’t get too much of the ball, though, so hard to tell how he got on.
Alexander Isak: 5 – Didn’t have much time to make an impact but Ekitike’s performance will be a big worry of his.
Federico Chiesa: N/A
