Tino Livramento concern amid Man City interest as uncertain Newcastle United contract comments…

Newcastle United ace Tino Livramento has been linked with a potential move to Manchester City.

Tino Livramento’s camp have reportedly caused contract negotiations as Manchester City continue to be linked with the defender.

The 23-year-old has developed into one of the Premier League’s best full-backs since moving to St James’ Park in 2023. Under Eddie Howe, Livramento is now an England international, with many backing him for Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup squad next summer.

But an impressive rise has also resulted in the versatile star being linked with a possible move away. New Toon sporting director Ross Wilson is keen to extend Livramento’s contract.

Manchester City interest

As it stands, Livramento will have two years remaining on his current deal at the end of the season. That matters little to supporters - who saw Alexander Isak down tools to bail the club over the summer despite being halfway through a six-year contract.

Manchester City are the club that have expressed the most interest in Livramento. Noises earlier this year suggested Etihad chiefs were put off by his reported £70million price tag.

However, with Livramento impressing further since then, it is unlikely Newcastle would budge for anything less. The Magpies view him as the future of their backline and would command a hefty fee.

As for Man City, the position has become a problem area for Pep Guardiola. Matheus Nunes - a midfielder - has taken on the role in recent times but is arguably their biggest weak link.

Tino Livramento talks paused

The Daily Mail claim Livramento will delay any decision on his future until the end of the campaign. That could suggest he is waiting to see how Newcastle’s season pans out - with the club currently sitting 12th in the Premier League.

Off-field issues like the St James’ Park expansion and training ground development are also yet to be settled. The piece suggests Livramento’s commitment remains “uncertain” - with the next six months crucial to any potential breakthrough.

‘Nothing in control of’ - Tino Livramento

NewcastleWorld asked Livramento about any discussions with Wilson regarding a possible contract extension. Ironically, the interview came following Newcastle’s 2-1 with over Man City.

“That's nothing that I'm in control of,” Livramento replied. “I leave that to my dad, to my agent. For me, I've been out for seven weeks. I've been working really hard to come back and obviously help the team.

“I'm very happy with how I've played (against Man City). That's my focus, staying where I'm at now. That's always been my focus. Helping the team as much as I can.”
